Hello Kirk: I loved you grandpa very much. I played for Vern when I was 14 years old. I left the band only because I needed to earn more money for college and the Bill Sackett Band played 2-3 times per month. Your grandpa is responsible for my interest in music, country music and especially Johnny Cash. Carol and the Keynotes is releasing a new CD soon. On the CD, I sing two Johnny Cash songs....mostly in memory of your grandpa and the influence he had on my music. Much love to Barb and Phyllis. Steve Nothem

Hello Again Kirk
I just re-read my response to you and realized some mistakes. I actually played for you grandpa from age 14 to age 18. Then, I took another band job for college. Also, the Bill Sackett Band played 2-3 times per week, not per month.
Best Wishes
Steve Nothem

Hello Kirk Thanks for making contact again. I will send greetings to your mom via her email address. Steve PS. Carol and the Keynotes is about to start on their 2nd CD. As of now, we will be putting another Johnny Cash tribute song on the CD. This wouldn't be happening if not for your Grandfather Vern. Also, check out my "other" band, the Red Star Express. www.redstarexpress.comThis is mostly bluegrass with some country, folk and Americanna mixed in. I play the standup bass. There are videos.
